Shooting Sports

The INHSRA offers trap and small bore shooting for high school contestants and small bore shooting for junior high contestants. You do not need to compete in any “rodeo” events to participate in the shooting events, but you must be a member of the National High School Rodeo Association and Indiana High School Rodeo Association. You will be responsible for following the same rules and regulations as all other rodeo contestants.

Each contestant must have his or her own firearm. The INHSRA will provide all targets (clay birds for trap, paper 50-yard targets for small bore) and will also supply 22-caliber ammunition to all contestants wishing to use it. Due to difference in rifle barrels, contestants may use their own ammo after approval by the range commander.

The INHSRA plans four shoots per schedule year, not including State Finals. Contestants will earn points for their placing at each shoot. The top four high school contestants in each discipline (small bore and trap) will qualify for the National High School Finals Rodeo. The top four junior high contestants in the small bore will qualify for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo.
